Quickstart

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • Installed Onset Engine (see Installation & Setup).
  • Verified your system meets the System Requirements. (Note: A dedicated GPU is recommended for AI analysis, but rendering works great on a fast CPU. No dedicated GPU is required!)

Open the application by double-clicking OnsetEngine.exe.

When you first open Onset Engine, you’ll see the Welcome Launcher. We’ll use the ⚡ Quick Start mode (Draft in 90 seconds) to get a timeline fast:

  1. Click the Quick Start button.
  2. Source Video: Click to select the raw footage folder or files you want to edit. (Tip: 3–10 clips work best for this quick demo).
  3. Audio Track: Click browse and select a music track (.mp3, .wav, etc.) to drive the edit.
  4. Click the ⚡ QUICK START button at the bottom.

Once you click the go button, the engine handles the rest. You’ll see a progress tracker move through several stages:

  • Ingest & Analysis: The AI is analyzing your clips for motion, scenes, and semantic meaning, adding them to your local library.
  • Audio Analysis: The engine is automatically picking the best moments and syncing them to the beats of your audio track.
  • Rendering: A fast draft render of your video is completed and a timeline is generated!

Your draft is ready! From the success screen, you can choose what to do next:

  • Open in Studio: Opens the generated timeline in the main Studio editor. Here you can manually swap clips, adjust the music mix, and tweak transitions.
  • Render Full Video: Renders the final version of your edit, applying all VFX, smooth transitions, and high-quality encoding.
  • Ready for more control? Try the Autopilot pipeline to guide the AI with text descriptions!
